Resolving PlayStation Network Connection Lockouts and Error WS-37397-9

PlayStation error code WS-37397-9 represents a highly disruptive network block that completely restricts access to the PlayStation Network (PSN). This specific restriction indicates that Sony’s remote authentication infrastructure has flagged your localized external IP address. This automated safety countermeasure is typically triggered by out-of-sync credential updates, data packet spikes, or shared IP addresses previously blacklisted due to network anomalies from other local subscribers.

Whether the authentication block stems from a stale connection log or a corrupted routing profile within your internet service provider’s hardware loops, you can bypass the lockout using localized hardware scripts.

Editor’s Diagnostic Note: When testing this layout on our bench console, we noticed that simply rebooting the router instantly through its software interface rarely clears WS-37397-9. You truly have to pull the physical power cord from the wall and leave it disconnected for the full 10 minutes. This physical break is what forces your ISP’s automated gateway to drop your flagged lease and assign your line a completely clean, unbanned IP address.

Initializing an External IP Address Refresh

Because residential internet service providers distribute external IP addresses dynamically, forcing your network hardware to release its lease is the most direct way to bypass a server-side ban.

  • Power down the PlayStation console entirely, avoiding standby or low-power rest configurations.
  • Disconnect the main alternating current (AC) power cords from the rear input ports of your router and modem assemblies.
  • Maintain complete power isolation for a minimum of ten full minutes. This delay forces the internet provider’s automated gateway utility to release your previous network lease allocation and recycle it back into the general hardware pool.
  • Reconnect the modem, allow all upstream and downstream internet indicators to cycle back to solid green, and boot up your console to establish a clean authentication handshake.

Modifying Maximum Transmission Unit Parameters

Manually re-aligning your local packet thresholds changes how network frames traverse secure routing points, allowing system requests to glide right past strict perimeter blocks.

  • Navigate through the primary system platform to the settings hierarchy and select the network configuration hub.
  • Access the internet connection wizard, select your active connection profile, and enter the advanced configuration panel.
  • Locate the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) properties segment and change the operational state configuration from automatic to manual management.
  • Wipe the baseline value of 1500 and lower the variable integer parameter to exactly 1473 or 1450 to accommodate structural path drops.
  • Commit the settings adjustments, initialize a hardware communication test sweep, and verify validation status on the dashboard sign-in gate.
